THE HANDBAGS AND THE GLADRAGS

My niece came to visit over the weekend and being young, free and single the girl likes to shop – A LOT! Every sightseeing excursion was laced with quick stopovers when a store came in sight so, needless to say, I ended up spending quite some time in the retail madness that Central London is a month before Christmas.

One of her particular favourites is TK Maxx, what can I say, she likes designers. I usually do not care about well-known brands and don’t particularly think that quality is better just because a designer name is attached but as I was already there, I might as well have a little look around. And I have to admit, I’m a convert. Found some lovely scented candles for Christmas presents and a few bits and pieces in the household section for myself. But my star buy was my handbag. It’s navy, so different to my usual black or brown yet still classic and timeless and large enough for my lunch to bring to work together with all the necessities (i.e. everything bar the kitchen sink) a woman needs to carry around with her on a daily basis – something most men will never understand but every woman out there will agree with.

A quick google search on the Paul Costelloe website revealed a price tag of £275 – TK Maxx price: £75! I know, I know, it’s still a little bit of a luxury but I love it and at a discount of almost 73% a bargain I just could not resist.

Any bargains you’ve bagged lately? Would love to hear about them ...

DONE IN 60 SECONDS

I have to admit, I’m not a particularly girly girl. Yes, I do wear make-up, my hair is highlighted and I do enjoy nice clothes. But it is not at the forefront of my happiness and come the weekend you will most likely find me without make-up in an old pair of jeans and comfy jumper.

As a result, spending a lot of time (and money) on getting my nails done is not something I usually do. I guess I am blessed with nails that are naturally quite hard and just grow to endlessness (is that even a word?) all by themselves. However, every now and then I get the urge for some colour and out comes the nail polish. As I am a very impatient person by nature (my long suffering husband can write a book about it) I just can’t be asked to wait around for nail varnish to dry. I find it so tedious and I usually end up with fingerprint marks on my nail because I’m checking too early.

So when I saw a TV ad for Rimmel London’s 60 Seconds NailPolish they had my attention. I wasn’t too convinced that it would really dry that fast but when I came across it at my weekly grocery shop in the supermarket and saw it I thought I’d give it a try. I got a bottle of Funtime Fuschia for an upcoming themed birthday party that required the guests to wear something pink and the colour and price were perfect.

And the verdict is … I LOVE IT! It really does dry incredibly fast, goes on very easily and evenly and 2 (or maybe 3 for more longevity) coats are just perfect. I’ve spent much more on other brands before that do not last as long as this one and there is a huge selection of fun colours. The RRP is £3.69 but Boots has currently got a 3 for 2 offer across selected cosmetics so it works out to £2.46/bottle. Bargain! I know I will definitely be getting some more, mmmh too much choice, which colours to go for ….?
